Concrete Wood & Stone Overlays

The look of hardwood or natural stone, with the durability of concrete.

Wood porches warp, rot, and need refinishing. Natural stone cracks, shifts, and costs a fortune to set. A decorative overlay gives you the same look on top of concrete that will not do either.

Our crews trowel a cementitious overlay, carve the plank or stone pattern by hand, build color in layers, and seal the result with a high-traffic urethane. Every installation is drawn on site, so no two are identical.

Why it's worth doing properly

Genuine hand-carved detail

Plank lines, grain, and grout joints are carved and stained by hand rather than stamped from one repeating mat.

Weather and traffic tolerant

No warping, no rot, no insect damage — and no annual staining or sealing ritual.

Works inside and out

Front porches, back patios, entryways, and interior feature floors over sound concrete.

Color built in layers

Multiple stain passes create depth that a single-color coating cannot reproduce.

Our process

  1. 01

    Design the look

Plank width, stone pattern, and color direction are chosen together before any material is mixed.

  2. 02

    Grind and prime

The slab is ground flat and primed — with a moisture vapor barrier primer where conditions require it.

  3. 03

    Trowel the overlay

A cementitious overlay is troweled to working thickness across the surface.

  4. 04

    Carve and stain

Pattern lines are carved by hand, then color is applied in layers to build realistic depth.

  5. 05

    Seal for traffic

Sealed with epoxy and/or a urethane topcoat, in gloss, satin, or matte.

Common questions

Does it really look like wood?

It is carved and colored by hand, so it reads as wood from standing height while staying a single continuous concrete surface. Ask to see photos of recent local installs.

Can it go over an existing patio?

Yes, as long as the concrete underneath is structurally sound. We evaluate that on site.

How do I maintain it?

Sweep and rinse. Sealer gets refreshed periodically depending on exposure and traffic.
